Beer to Be Sold At Select EKU Football Games

marshall.edu

Beer will be sold for the first time this season at select home Eastern Kentucky University football games. School officials say the decision to do so came after lengthy consideration.

EKU President Michael Benson says the move to allow beer sales on a pilot basis is not a decision the university takes lightly. He says it comes after years of evaluation and numerous discussions on how best to implement the option for adult fans without causing any undue problems. Benson says the university hopes that providing alcohol in a controlled environment will lead to more responsible consumption and a decreased likelihood of binge drinking. The Touchdown Terrace, situated in the north end zone, will be open to those 21 and older for home games on September 26th, October 24th, and November seventh. If the pilot program proves safe and successful, EKU officials say they will consider the addition of wine sales in the future.
