EKU Host Opening Round Game in FBS Playoffs

kentucky.com

The Eastern Kentucky University football Colonels will go after their first playoff victory in 20 years Saturday.  EKU plays host to Indiana State at Roy Kidd Stadium.  Eastern comes into the Football Championship Series playoff game at nine and three while Indiana State finished the regular season seven and five.

Colonel Head Coach Dean Hood liked just seeing his squad in the 24 team playoff field.  "Number one is you see your name.  Number two then is you see your name above the other person, cause that means you're the host team.  That's a huge advantage and then third is who you are playing.  Like we said, it's really all irrelevant from the standpoint everybody is good," said Hood.

Eastern comes into the playoff contest off a 52 to three loss to Florida.  Coach Dean Hood admits he pulled some players when the game in Gainesville starting getting away.  "You know we went down there to win the game, but when it looked like there was no shot for us to win the football game, then we started pulling guys out, protecting some of our guys, for a first round playoff," added Hood.

Game time Saturday is set for one o clock.
