Lawrenceburg Man Charged With Threats at Anderson, Shelby Schools

WEKU

Authorities say a man is in custody for allegedly making a threat that prompted a Kentucky school district to cancel classes and a high school to suspend activities.

Anderson County Public Schools said on its website that classes were canceled today (Fri) at all schools due to the threat.

In neighboring Shelby County, the school system said it was suspending all activities that were planned at Shelby County High School until further notice. The district is on fall break so regular classes aren't in session.

Kentucky State Police Sergeant Josh Lawson says 20 year old Dylan Jarrell of Lawrenceburg is charged with two counts of 2nd degree terroristic threatening and one count of harassing communications.

Lawson told WFPL: “A firearm, over 200 rounds of ammunition, a Kevlar vest, a 100-round high capacity magazine and a detailed plan of attack were also discovered in the possession of the suspect.”

Authorities say they had received a complaint about Jarrell harassing and threatening a woman in New Jersey and he had previously been questioned by the FBI about a social media threat to a school in Tennessee.
