UK officials say the $913,685 grant for the REACH project will benefit all research institutions — and the communities they serve.

The University of Kentucky has been awarded a four-year grant worth more than 913-thousand dollars to develop a program using data and artificial intelligence to enhance research opportunities. Baron Wolf is the director of research analytics at UK. He said REACH – which stands for Research Evaluation and Analytics Capacity Hub – will benefit more than UK.

“I think the network that we provide, that we've created, is one that is trying to ensure that all institutions of higher education have ample access to federal dollars and industry-sponsored research.”

Wolf said the benefits will extend beyond existing and emerging research colleges and universities.

“For instance, we use data and information about our citizens within the Commonwealth to really help drive where we might want to have researchers invest in topical areas that meet the needs of the community.”

Wolf said partners included experts from across the country, Canada and the United Kingdom.
