Lexington’s government and business sectors are celebrating a first when it comes to corporate activity. The Funai Microfluidic Solutions firm has re-located its business unit headquarters to Lexington from Osaka, Japan. City Chief Development Officer Kevin Adkins said it’s the first time a Japanese company has moved its headquarters to Kentucky and made Lexington its home. Adkins says it’s right in line with the city’s focus.
“It is tech-based companies, which they fill and in the life-sciences space that they are also participating in. So, it’s the interlinking of two of our strategic targets,” said Adkins.
Adkins said Funai, which has grown to 50 employees in Lexington, is involved in high-speed printing including high-speed barcodes regarding food expiration.
