Lexington's Chrysalis House to Host Head Start

Stu Johnson

Mothers and their children receiving services at the state’s largest licensed substance abuse treatment program for women will be among the first to experience a rebranded child Head Start program.

A new partnership between Chrysalis House and the Community Action Council announced yesterday (Wednesday) included a ribbon-cutting at the recovery center just off Versailles Road.

Lisa Minton is the director at Chrysalis House. “Early Head Start will provide an educational foundation for our children that will take them through the rest of their lives,” said Minton.

Minton says the newly-named Prep Academy will serve 16 children at any given time at the substance abuse recovery facility.  Community Action Council Director Malcolm Ratchford said one resident told him she cried when she first saw the Head Start classroom with its materials and technology.
