Lexington Pride Festival Organizer Expects Big Crowd

lexpridefest.org

Lexington’s ninth public ‘Pride Festival’ will take place tomorrow in the center of downtown.  One organizer believes attendance for this summer’s event could be much larger than last year.

Festival Vice-Chair Chad Hundley views the one day event as an opportunity to raise awareness and education about the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender community.  He says the Orlando mass shooting at a gay club may prompt more people to come and support festival activities.  “We’ve had a fury of last minute vendors who have been trying to get into the festival, which has cause the organizers a lot of grief, but we’re working through it.”

Hundley says there were about 90 vendors last year and some 120 have signed up for this weekend.   The Pride Festival runs from 11:00 a.m. until about ten p.m. in the Robert F Stephens Court House Plaza.?
