An Eastern Kentucky University student is in custody on charges stemming from an armed robbery in a campus dormitory.  University police say they are unable to release some details since they are still investigating.

EKU spokesman Marc Whitt says a group of students reported they had been held up by two gunmen Sunday night in the university’s Clay Hall.

Campus police Wednesday announced the arrest of 19-year-old Zain Gilmore, of Tampa, Florida.  Gilmore is a resident of Clay Hall and has been charged with Burglary and Robbery in the first degree.

Whitt says police are still investigating and unable to confirm if they are seeking a second suspect, "We're not sure at this point if there's another suspect or not until everyone that EKU Police are talking with.  Hopefully we will be closer to this fairly soon."

Following the Sunday night incident, EKU issued a campus-wide alert, urging students, faculty and staff to observe safety precautions,

Spokesman Marc Whitt believes the campus remains a safe place, saying he has not previously observed a crime of this type in his 13 years with the university.
