The 36-member civic assembly met for the first time at the beginning of March, kicking off a month-long series of meetings.

Earlier this month, Lexington nonprofit CivicLex launched its first civic assembly, a way to get more residents involved in local government. For Today’s Interview, Shepherd Snyder spoke with deputy director and assembly lead Kit Anderson to see how the project is going.

Shepherd joined WEKU in June 2023 as a staff reporter. He most recently worked for West Virginia Public Broadcasting as General Assignment Reporter. In that role, he collected interviews and captured photos in the northern region of West Virginia. Shepherd holds a master’s degree in Digital Marketing Communication and a bachelor’s in music from West Virginia University.
