Lexington's Hits New Record High COVID Case Count

Fayette County has reached a sobering milestone. Health Department officials are reporting the largest one day total of coronavirus cases for Lexington.  The central Kentucky community has seen higher cases in recent days.

Fayette County Health Department Spokesman Kevin Hall says 149 cases were reported Thursday.  That’s 18 cases more than the previous high on August seventh, but four of the top five days have fallen in September.

Hall said the health department is continuing to see a rise in cases among University of Kentucky students with 51 new cases reported Wednesday.  UK Spokesman Jay Blanton noted the school has seen a higher number of recovered students than active cases and UK is maintaining ample isolation space.?
