A $200,000 federal grant will help establish clearer agency networking to further opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery services in central Kentucky. Kentucky River Foothills Development Council secured the one year grant.
Madison County Opioid Response and Engagement’s Jackie Dean says attention will go beyond existing resources. “We don’t have a men’s recovery center. We have some around us, but we don’t have one in the county. So, that could be an example of a gap that we have,” said Dean.
Dean said several ideas were mentioned this week at a summit meeting of various agencies and government leaders. “Peer support specialists, so having somebody available 24/7 so when someone is in a crisis and wanting to go to treatment right then, they have that opportunity,” said Dean.
In addition to Foothills, the consortium includes the Madison County Health Department, White House Clinic, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Berea's Fahe social service agency.
