Twenty- four academic institutions including five from Kentucky will benefit from a just announced federal grant. It’s aimed at speeding up the release of biomedical technologies.
The three year $3.5 million dollar grant creates a hub to accelerate commercialization of biomedical technologies. The grant comes from the National Institutes of Health.
The Louisville based healthcare technology accelerator XlerateHealth is the primary awardee. The firm is part of a consortium with two dozen academic entities including UK, U of L, EKU, WKU, and NKU.
The grant will support forming an online virtual hub through which XlerateHealth, UK, U of L, and West Virginia University can connect and share educational curriculum, resources, and commercialization tools for use across the network of participating institutions.?
