Lexington Recycling Center To Shut Down For Weeks

lexingtonky.gov

Lexington’s recycling center is shutting down for an extended period of time.  The length of the down time is at least partly due to coronavirus.

Starting Monday, the city says residential and commercial collection of recyclables will be suspended for several weeks.  Environmental Quality and Public Works Commissioner Nancy Albright said a shaft that moves recyclables for sorting broke down Tuesday.  The firm that makes parts for the equipment is offline because of the coronavirus pandemic.  Albright noted the equipment was scheduled to be overhauled.

Clean paper recycling is continuing.  Lexington citizens can take clean newspapers, office paper, paper mail, magazines, and catalogs to yellow bins around town.  Other recyclables can be collected at home until the recycling center reopens.
