EKU Promotion Pay Coming To Certain Faculty This Year

The just approved Eastern Kentucky University budget includes money to cover promotions for certain faculty members.

EKU Graduate School Dean Jerry Pogatshnik says Eastern is competitive in salaries when it comes to incoming professors.  He says this money would address associate level and full time faculty. “In order to sort of be responsive to the market and pay faculty at those senior levels what we think is competitive in the market, we had to adjust the increases for promotion under this budget.  This hasn’t been done since 2012, so it was an opportune time for us to try to take a look at that,” said Pogatshnik.

Pogatshnik says faculty up for a promotion this year will see an increase in pay this year.  The dean says 150 to $200,000 affects about 40 to 50 faculty members.  EKU President Michael Benson has indicated salaries for other EKU faculty and staff will be reviewed this fall.
