WKU is under federal investigation for claims the school is underfunding its softball program. The Bowling Green Daily News reports the school’s general counsel says the softball program doesn’t have to mirror its baseball program.
The US Department of Education put WKU on notice following a civil rights complaint in 2016. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination for any educational activity or program receiving federal money. The university says it’s fully co-operating with the Office for Civil Rights as the investigation continues.
