Governor Beshear Reports Another Record Day Of Coronavirus Cases

lanereport.com

Citing record high cases of coronavirus week after week, Governor Beshear said Monday the disease is spreading significantly across the Commonwealth.  The 1,745 reported cases represents the highest count for a Monday during the pandemic.  Beshear also announced 11 additional deaths.

While the governor has stressed throughout the past eight months the importance of facial coverings to protect others, his message Monday included the mask wearer. “Very simply right now with the amount of virus, if you’re not wearing a mask, you’re putting yourself at a real and significant risk of contracting COVID.  So, we need you to do the right things for your community, but you ought to be doing the right things for yourself right now,” said Beshear.

Beshear reported 85 veterans at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center have tested positive with 22 active cases.  The governor said 22 veterans at the Wilmore facility had died.  With Veterans Day this Wednesday, Beshear said, quote, “with all the sacrifice they made, wearing a mask for them seems like a very small sacrifice.”

Governor Beshear is urging Kentuckians to put aside animosities tied into the just completed general election.  The governor said there’s been plenty of tension and political bickering already.  “The election is over, it’s time to stop the consistent and persistent fighting.  And what we see is some want to continue to do it.  I mean, y’all are you tired of it?  Aren’t you tired of neighbors yelling at neighbors and calling each other un-American.  We are not each other’s enemy,” explained Beshear.

The governor did express hope about one vaccine showing early promise.
