Lexington Business Group Talks Economic Development to Lexington Council

kentucky.com

Lexington’s business umbrella organization continues to focus on seven targeted commercial sectors.  Questions about business priorities came up during a recent presentation by Commerce Lexington.

Commerce Lexington’s Gina Greathouse laid out targeted industries like software and IT, life science and biotech, equine and advanced manufacturing to the budget committee.  During the presentation, Greathouse was asked if one area gets more attention than another.  She indicated there is no ranking of business interests.  Lexington Chief Development Officer Kevin Atkins agrees with that approach.“I think trying to prioritize these or getting too locked in on just a small number of items, I would exercise some caution along those lines,” said Atkins.

Greathouse, meanwhile, said Commerce Lexington spends more time working with entrepreneurs than large businesses, professional services companies or large manufacturers.
