Barn at Redgate to host new concert series in Somerset

A new series of concerts kicks off in Somerset next weekend.   Singer/songwriter Pierce Pettis will open The Red Gate Sessions on Friday evening May 17. Concert promoter George Linn has put together a series of four concerts featuring the work of those who both write the songs and perform them.

One of those guys is Pierce Pettis.  He’s a writer and singer who prefers not to be pigeon-holed in one category such as folk or country but, since the earliest days of his career, he’s had songs “covered” by people like Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Randy Stonehill, Dion, of Dion and Belmonts fame and Dar Williams.

The first concert of the Red Gate Sessions featuring Pierce Pettis is scheduled for Friday evening May 17 at the Barn at Redgate in Somerset.

Folksinger Joe Crookston performs in September, followed in October by the duo Mustard’s Retreat. Another duo, the Twangtown Paramours are scheduled to end this year’s series in November.
