Update 10:10a 1/25/2026
88.9 WEKU now operating at full power.

Update 9:57a 1/25/2026
88.5 WEKC Corbin is off the air due to significant ice accumulation on antenna. 102.5 Middlesboro is also off the air.

The winter storm moving through Kentucky has impacted 88.9, WEKU's main signal, as well as other transmitters in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Station Director & General Manager Mike Savage says all transmitter sites have power, but the ice has forced three of the station's five largest transmitters to reduce power.

"Ice from the winter storm forced us to reduce power at 88.9 WEKU, 88.5 WEKC, 90.9 WEKH. Translators in Middlesboro, Harlan, Frankfort, and Pikeville have been impacted as well."

Savage says all stations are on the air at the moment, but if the ice and cold temperatures persist, stations will need to stay at low power to avoid transmission failure.

Listeners unable to tune in to the station can stream WEKU at weku.org or on the WEKU Mobile App.
