A giant matchstick model of the Eiffel Tower may be ineligible for world record

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. A Frenchman spent eight years building a giant matchstick model of the Eiffel Tower, and he may have used the wrong matchsticks to set a world record. Richard Plaud says he got tired of shaving off the flammable tips and instead got special matches, just the sticks. Guinness said the tower doesn't qualify because he didn't use commercially available matches. He protested on Instagram. Guinness may reconsider. It's MORNING EDITION.
