Toyota Production Slowdown Affecting Worker Schedule

U.S. automakers have been feeling the effects of the current pandemic for some time. Central Kentucky’s Toyota plant is not immune from the production slowdown.

The most highly publicized issue for automakers like Toyota has been the lack of semiconductors for new vehicles. Georgetown Toyota Spokeswoman Kim Ogle said parts shortages on all lines are expected through mid-September. Nationally, Toyota is projecting a reduction of 60 to 90,000 vehicles in August and another 80,000 vehicles in September.

Ogle said workers will be provided three options for non-production days: report to work for training activities, take paid time off or take days off without pay.
