Monroe's 'Subway' Dress Sells For $4.6 Million

RENEE MONTAGNE, Host:

And our last word in business news is Hollywood classics.

(SOUNDBITE OF MOVIE, "THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH")

MARILYN MONROE: (as The Girl) Do you feel the breeze from the subway? Isn't it delicious?

MONTAGNE: The light blue dress Judy Garland wore in the "Wizard of Oz" fetched more than $900,000. Both dresses were part of the collection of another film legend, Debbie Reynolds. She auctioned them after an attempt to create a museum fell through.

(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)

MONTAGNE: And that's the business news from MORNING EDITION from NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
