Court documents identify the man police believe shot and killed two bank employees in Berea on Thursday and led law-enforcement on a high-speed chase on Interstate 75.
An affidavit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky on Friday in support of a criminal complaint against 18-year-old Brailen Weaver.
According to the document, written by FBI Special Agent Isaac Robison, a suspect entered the U.S. Bank branch on Chestnut Street in Berea just before 2 p.m.
He shot and killed two people inside the bank, including a teller, the document says. He checked multiple drawers then left.
Police began tracking him through social media posts and surveillance footage.
Police identified a silver BMW with Alabama license plates on Interstate 75. Police chased the vehicle at speeds of more than 100 mph.
Police attempted to disable the BMW using spike strips, but the driver avoided them.
The suspect crashed the car in Lexington and fled on foot. Police found a firearm in the car.
On Friday morning, Kentucky State Police said a person of interest had been apprehended but didn't release a name.
Breanna Edwards, 35, of Madison County, and Brian Switzer, 42, of Jessamine County, were identified as the bank employees who were killed.
According to the court document, a person convicted of armed bank robbery resulting in the death of a person through use of a firearm could be sentenced to death or life in prison.
