The trial is set to begin on May 1 in Shelbyville, moved from Madison County because of the publicity surrounding the case for the past four years.

The last pretrial hearing in the Shannon Gilday murder case was held in Shelby County Wednesday.

Gilday, of northern Kentucky, is charged with Jordan Morgan’s murder. She was shot to death in her father’s home in February 2022. Her father, former state Rep. Wesley Morgan, was in court on Wednesday.

Mica Nicole is a friend of Jordan Morgan. She said she never thought it would take this long to bring Morgan’s accused killer to trial.

“And it is what it is, and but we're going to get it done, and we're going to have, like the judge said, it's going to be a trial with integrity,” she said.

Nicole said the jurors need to see graphic evidence of the crime, as upsetting as it may be.

“So you have to remember what we're dealing with,” she said. “If they have to show every single detail, then let them show every single detail so that the punishment fits the crime.”
