GE Appliances has announced a nearly half-billion-dollar project that will create 800 jobs in Kentucky.

The move also shifts production of clothes washers from China to its manufacturing complex in Kentucky.

Company officials announced late last week that the nearly half-billion-dollar investment positions it to rank as the largest U.S. manufacturer of washing machines.

The project will move production of a combo washer/dryer and a lineup of front-load washers from China to Louisville.

The new manufacturing lines are expected to open in 2027. The announcement comes as President Donald Trump attempts to lure factories back to the United States by imposing tariffs on foreign goods.
