Victims of April’s severe storms have more time to apply for FEMA assistance.
The deadline to apply for assistance has been extended to July 25.
FEMA recommends filing insurance claims for any property damage before applying. The agency will continue helping victims with their application after that deadline.
Agency spokesperson Danny Bernardy says the extension is to make sure everyone can apply, including those living in counties that were made eligible later on.
“It's a good faith effort to make sure that no Kentuckians are left behind,” he said. “In this particular case, 24 counties were added on after the fact, and people that were in those counties wouldn't otherwise have had a sufficient amount of time to apply.”
Victims can apply in person at disaster recovery centers, online, by calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or by downloading the mobile app.
