More FEMA recovery centers open in central, southern Kentucky

FEMA.gov

FEMA is still opening disaster recovery centers across Kentucky for multiple recent disasters.

That includes a center in Russell County for southern Kentucky’s recent tornados and a center in Garrard County for April flood victims.

Those centers help flood victims with in-person support for programs like rental assistance or home repair.

FEMA spokesperson Danny Bernardy says the centers hold a lot of different resources and agencies.

“We can point you right across the room and say, Well, why don't you talk to somebody from the Commonwealth, the state has a table right there. They can talk about disaster unemployment assistance. Or just next to them is the Small Business Administration,” he said.

Centers are also still open in central and eastern Kentucky for victims of February and April’s floods. Bernardy says FEMA is still working with victims of February’s storms after the application deadline.

Victims can also apply online, over the phone at 800-621-3362 or by downloading the mobile app.
