FEMA disaster recovery centers open in Somerset, London

FEMA has opened disaster recovery centers in London and Somerset for tornado victims.

They’re open at the Laurel County Public Library and Pulaski County's Center for Rural Development.

Those recovery centers help victims with in-person support for programs like rental assistance, personal property assistance or home repair. FEMA spokesperson Danny Bernardy says each victim’s situation is different.

“We will listen to your unique situation and let you know what kinds of assistance you are eligible for, including housing assistance,” Bernardy said. “But if you are a renter, then you may be eligible for personal property assistance.”

FEMA says more are expected to open in adjacent counties. Those living in Caldwell, Russell, Trigg and Union counties are also eligible for assistance.

“They're in the process of identifying those sites as we speak. The state had these sites open for assistance already, and so we are now joining them at the same sites,” Bernardy said.

Victims can also apply for assistance online, through the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or by downloading the mobile app.
