Four more counties have been designated as “Recovery Ready Communities” by the governor's office. Bell, Washington, LaRue, and Marion are the newest counties and bring the total of recovery-ready communities up to 25.

David Daugherty is the Marion County Judge Executive. He said this recognition highlights the serious work done by many organizations within his county.

“We are proud of our progress, and this certification represents an achievement and a commitment to our residents that we are dedicated to preventing substance misuse, supporting individuals in recovery, and creating meaningful employment opportunities that help our families and communities thrive.”

Governor Beshear said Kentucky has made great progress in reducing addiction and overdose deaths.

“We're committed to making sure the number of overdose deaths continues to decline and we're committed to making sure that every single community has the tools that they need to be able to provide the very best for their people.”

These new certifications mean that nearly 71,000 more Kentuckians have access to the resources needed to have a second chance at life. Governor Beshear said the goal is to have all 120 of Kentucky's counties certified as “Recovery Ready.”
