FEMA assistance deadline for February storm victims ends Sunday

FEMA.gov

The deadline for February storm victims to apply for FEMA assistance is this Sunday.

That marks the last chance for victims to send their information to the agency.

Spokesperson Danny Bernardy says the agency will continue working with those who applied after that date.

“Just for clarification, that deadline is for registration, it's not when the money stops flowing, it's just when we need to have your information and your story,” he said.

FEMA is closing six disaster recovery centers across eastern Kentucky in the meantime. Three centers that opened for February storm victims are still open in Floyd, Perry and Pike counties.

More than 30 centers set up for April storm victims are also open. Victims can get assistance for either disaster at those locations. The deadline for April storm victims is June 25.

Victims can also apply for assistance online, through the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or through the mobile app.
