FEMA offers assistance for farmers, ranchers affected by storms

FEMA.gov

FEMA is offering assistance to farmers and ranchers affected by April’s severe storms.

That includes reimbursement or replacement of equipment like tractors, plows, planters, harvesters, sprayers, hay balers and utility vehicles.

Agency spokesperson Danny Bernardy says that’s not an exhaustive list.

“If you're a farmer or rancher and your tools or equipment are not listed, come in and talk to us and let us hear about what your situation was, so that we can figure out how we can help you.”

Crops or livestock can’t be replaced by FEMA since they’re the products of a farming operation and not the tools needed to cultivate them.

Assistance is available at local disaster recovery centers, online, by calling the FEMA helpline 800-621-3362 or by downloading the mobile app. The deadline to apply is June 25.
