One police officer and two other people have been transported to the hospital for injuries after an officer-involved shooting in Berea.

A press release from the Berea Police Department says early this morning, officers responded to Walmart in Berea to investigate a stolen vehicle.

When officers attempted to make contact with the driver, he placed the car in reverse and struck an officer, pinning him between two vehicles. The officer fired his weapon into the vehicle to stop it.

Officials say there is no active threat to the community, and all involved are in custody.

As standard practice, Kentucky State Police is investigating this officer-involved shooting.

Walmart is open for business however, police are asking that people leave space for officers to work the scene.
