Neighborhoods affected by floods earlier this month could see FEMA agents in affected areas.
The agency is sending crews to 13 Kentucky counties to help with April flood recovery.
That includes Anderson, Butler, Carroll, Christian, Clark, Franklin, Hardin, Hopkins, Jessamine, McCracken, Mercer, Owen and Woodford counties.
That comes after the Trump administration approved individual assistance for those floods late last week.
The state is also waiting on the okay for public assistance, which helps with rebuilding infrastructure.
FEMA spokesperson Danny Bernardy says more counties could benefit later on, per the governor’s request.
“Since that process can take some time, he, as I understand it, wanted to get the ball rolling and put in the initial request, and then do what's called add-ons,” Bernardy said. “This was also the case with the February flooding. There were add ons after the initial wave.”
FEMA agents always weare ID badges with a photograph and never ask for money. The FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 can be used to verify an agent’s identity.
Victims can apply for assistance by visiting a local disaster recovery center, calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362, going online or downloading the mobile app.
