More severe weather is expected in the Commonwealth through Sunday as a cold front stalls throughout the region.

The most severe weather is expected in northern, west and central Kentucky. That could include more extreme rainfall in the Bluegrass region and along Interstate 64. High rainfall is also possible in eastern Kentucky.

Christian Cassell is a NWS meteorologist in Jackson. He says to keep staying alert and watch the forecast as the weather system continues.

“We always have, when we go through several days of these types of events, people get warning fatigue, just a constant number of warnings, and then people start to tune it out. And that’s kind of the worst thing you should do,” Cassell said.

Cassell says to have a reliable way to check the forecast and receive weather alerts in the meantime.

He says the service has gotten reports of high wind damage throughout the Commonwealth, and some minor floods in Breathitt, Wolfe and Magoffin County from last night’s storms.
