A new FEMA disaster recovery center in Versailles is open for victims of February’s severe storms. It’s the 17th such disaster recovery center across Kentucky.
FEMA says the centers can help with applications for assistance, which includes money for home repairs, childcare, transportation, medical needs, funeral and dental costs.
Representatives from FEMA, the state and the American Red Cross are available.
FEMA spokesperson Danny Bernardy calls the centers a “one-stop shop” for survivors.
“Once they're in there, depending on that particular situation, since there's no cookie cutter approach to everybody's recovery, the individual assistance person that they're working with can say, ‘Hey, you know what, you should really talk to somebody from the American Red Cross, and they're sitting right there. You should talk to somebody from Hazard Mitigation, they're sitting right there,’” Bernardy said.
Those affected can also apply for assistance by going online, calling the FEMA helpline or downloading the mobile app. The deadline to apply for assistance is April 25.

The center in Woodford County is located at 185 Beasley Rd in Versailles. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
