New website aims to connect Winchester locals with volunteer work

A new website meant to help match Winchester residents with volunteer opportunities launched last week.

The WinCityHelps website includes a database of local organizations that need volunteer help. It was modeled after LexHelps, a similar website geared for Lexingtonians.

Website co-founder Pete Koutoulas explains what’s in the database.

“It tells the name of the organization, the type of work they do, the type of volunteers they're looking for, any restrictions, any training, orientation, so forth, that's required. And then, of course, it has contact information,” Koutoulas said.

The website was founded by community service group Humanists of Winchester alongside WinCity Media. Koutoulas says it’s intended to fill a community need.

“We're committed to keeping it up, so our two organizations are co-funding this. It doesn't cost a lot, server space and some volunteer time,” Koutoulas said.

Koutoulas says the website doesn’t take any volunteer’s personal data. The website is available here.
