More severe weather is headed for much of Kentucky this weekend. Severe thunderstorms are expected to roll into the commonwealth on Sunday evening through early Monday morning.

During his Team Kentucky update, Governor Beshear issued a word of caution to Kentuckians as the storms approach.

“All severe hazards are possible, including damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes. Heavy rainfall could cause flash flooding, so everyone stay weather aware this weekend.”

Beshear urged Kentuckians to avoid driving through rising water.

“A number of the 24 individuals we lost during the last flooding were driving through water, where if they turned around they'd still be here with us.”

Widespread rainfall is expected to be around 1 to 1 and half inches, with some parts of northern Kentucky seeing up to three inches of rain.
