Transylvania University president Brian Lewis and University of Kentucky president Eli Capilouto sign agreement to join "Advancing Kentucky Together" Network

Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky have entered into a new partnership. Transylvania has become the first academic partner in UK's “Advancing Kentucky Together” network. This effort was launched in October of 2024, and on Wednesday, Kentucky's oldest university signed on.

The network was created as a plan for addressing dramatically growing health, education, and workforce needs across the state. UK President Eli Capilouto said while Kentucky is growing in many areas, there are some shortfalls, especially with healthcare.

“UK Healthcare alone projects needing an additional 5,000 healthcare professionals over the next decade to meet growing health needs. Across Kentucky, many counties lack access to primary care physicians and other vital health services.”

Transylvania University president Brian Lewis said this partnership provides the best of both worlds for students at these schools.

“By combining Transylvania's liberal arts foundation with UK's research and professional programs, we're creating unparalleled opportunities for our students and enriching the entire commonwealth with a skilled and innovative workforce.”

The university presidents said this partnership will allow Transylvania students to seamlessly move from their undergraduate studies into a master's degree program at the UK College of Public Health.
