One of Kentucky’s biggest water utilities is changing leadership at the beginning of next month.
Robert Burton is taking the role of president at Kentucky American Water. He’ll take the position after current President Kathryn Nash retires.
The utility provides water to around 560,000 Kentuckians in 14 counties. It’s a part of the larger American Water company, headquartered in New Jersey.
Burton says the company is currently focused on flood recovery in eastern Kentucky.
“As of right now, we have crews responding and helping out near the Pikeville area and near Letcher county as well, with some of the recent storms and flooding situations, we have some teams down there providing assistance to some other utilities,” Burton said.
Burton is a Kentucky native who was previously the president of West Virginia American Water. He’s worked in utilities for nearly 30 years.
