Monday, Governor Andy Beshear said he would ask the Trump Administration for individual assistance for flood victims.

Governor Andy Beshear is requesting more federal help for flood victims. Sunday, Beshear announced the Trump Administration granted his request for an emergency disaster declaration, which will provide federal funding to flood-ravaged parts of the state. Monday at the state Emergency Operations Center, he said he was asking for more.

“We will be applying today to Secretary Nome and President Trump for individual assistance for our people.”

Beshear said he was confident the request will be granted.

“We now believe that we have enough damage and evidence of enough damage to request that help for our people. If we secure it, it will open up immediate need and cleaning and sanitizing, money that becomes available pretty quickly.”

Beshear said that would also allow people to apply for further individual assistance worth up to $42,500.
