Kentucky’s second federally funded charging station for electric vehicles opened earlier this week. It’s also the second in Madison County.

The station is located in Berea, at the Circle K gas station on Chestnut Street.

It’s part of the state’s EV charging program, which is meant to create a statewide network of chargers. Nearly 50 chargers have been announced for the program so far.

The money comes from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. Kentucky has gotten $70 million from the program, along with another $17 million in private dollars.

State officials hope to have all EV chargers installed by the end of 2026. The state’s first federally funded station opened in Richmond in September.
