Utilities are preparing for a winter storm Sunday that’s expected to dump snow, sleet and freezing rain across the commonwealth. Daniel Lowry is a spokesperson for LG&E/KU, which provides electricity to more than a million customers in Kentucky.
“LG and KU have more than 450 crew and restoration personnel that are immediately available, and that's across our service area. And so they're ready to respond. We have equipment on standby.”
Lowry said crews from other states could be also be called in.
“We also have a couple staging areas, you know, in Louisville and Lexington, that if we need outside restoration help, that those folks can come stage there and be immediately operational.”
Lowry said folks who see downed power lines should call 911 or contact their utility rather than try to fix the problem themselves. LG&E/KU is a supporter of WEKU.
