Kentucky health officials say the number of people applying the state-based marketplace for health insurance coverage is on the rise. Over 85-thousand Kentuckians have signed up for the coverage this year.
During a press conference last week, State Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said that is a massive improvement from last year's numbers.
“That's 20,000 more enrollees compared to this time last year. In addition, at the end of last year's open enrollment, we reported nearly 75,000 Kentuckians enrolled in a plan, that was our strongest enrollment since Kynect relaunched in 2021.”
Stack said state workers have making a serious effort to get the word out on the state-based plans.
“There have been extensive outreach efforts on the part of our connectors and insurance agents that are located in every county. Our goal is to provide Kentuckians easy access to health coverage so every Kentuckian can thrive and be well. No individual or family should be left uninsured.”
Dr. Stack said the deadline to sign up in the open enrollment period is January 15th. Anyone who signs up now will have coverage beginning February 1st.
