A former official with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System alleges it violated the Kentucky Whistleblower Act in a lawsuit.
It was filed by former chief of staff Hannah Rivera in Franklin Circuit Court last October.
The filing alleges that KCTCS wrongfully terminated Rivera’s contract after good faith reports of waste, mismanagement and violations of the law.
KCTCS denies the claims and has filed a motion to dismiss the case.
“KCTCS refutes Ms. Rivera’s allegations. As we state in our motion to dismiss this lawsuit, she resigned from KCTCS in July of this year,” KCTCS spokesperson Blair Hess said in an emailed statement.
The Kentucky General Assembly passed a resolution last session requiring KCTCS to report findings and offer ideas to improve the system. KCTCS officials will present those findings to the assembly Tuesday, December 10.
A motion hour for the lawsuit is scheduled the day after, December 11.
