Republican state Sen. Steve West beat challenger Molly Gene Crain, despite Crain raising more money than him.

Unofficial results show incumbent Steve West is the winner of the 27th state Senate district race, beating a well-funded challenger.

West is a Republican who’s been in office since 2015. He turned back Democrat Molly Gene Crain. State election finance reports show Crain raised more than $190,000 for the primary and general election, compared to less than $174,000 for West. Last month, Crain told WEKU the 27th District was the Democrats’ best chance to flip a Senate seat. The 27th District includes Bourbon, Fleming, Harrison, Mason, Nicholas, Robertson, Rowan counties and part of Fayette.
