The report from one southeastern Kentucky county Tuesday shows that voters are turning out in huge numbers. Clay County Clerk Beverly Craft said there are no vote centers in the Appalachian County. Craft said that prompted some phone calls to her office.
“It gets confusing to people. They see on the news that they can go anywhere they want to in the County..in other counties and then so they call here wanting to know where can I go vote,” said Craft.
Craft noted two electronic ballot markers are found at precincts in Clay County. She added that allows for last-minute checking.
“One of them had failed to vote his amendments and he said oh no my amendments are not on here so, you know, he can spoil that ballot and start over, so until it’s put in that scanner, it’s not cast,” said Craft.
Craft said by midday, there had not been any big voting hitches.
The county clerk said she feels good about the security of elections in the Commonwealth, adding she thought a lot of other states could learn from Kentucky.
