Appalachian Regional Healthcare organizing flood relief drive for victims

Appalachian Regional Healthcare

Appalachian Regional Healthcare is organizing flood relief drives in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene in states like North Carolina and Tennessee.

The organization is asking for gallon jugs of water, canned food and household essentials. ARH says medicine like Benadryl and baby items are some of the most needed supplies.

Hollie Harris is ARH’s President and CEO. She says the floods in eastern Kentucky two years ago have them prepared to continue that relief work.

“We still operate our flood distribution relief center in Hazard that we set up two years ago when the flooding happened there, and we are going to use that as a central location to take all the supplies to,” Harris said.

The drive will continue through next Friday, but Harris says they’ll continue to support victims after.

“As the months go on, the needs definitely change, so we want to make sure that we're educating ourselves most about what is needed for the long haul in those communities,” Harris said.

Supplies can be donated at ARH’s Lexington headquarters, or at any of their hospitals in eastern Kentucky or West Virginia.

A full list of requested supplies can be found here.
