Kentucky Opioid Symposium scheduled for late October

Wikimedia Commons

This year’s Kentucky Opioid Symposium is scheduled for later this month.

The event is organized by the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission. It’s meant to gather experts and advocates to discuss how to best treat those in recovery, as well as prevent opioid overdoses.

The Office of Drug Control Policy last June reported a 9.8 percent drop in overdose deaths from 2022 to 2023. It’s the second straight year the Commonwealth has seen a drop in deaths.

That also comes as rural health officials say they’re getting more access to naloxone and training.

The event is scheduled for October 21 and 22 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.
