Kentucky's Sixth District Congressman Andy Barr is confident of a Donald Trump victory in November, no matter who is at the top of the ticket for Democrats. Barr chaired a congressional field hearing in Lexington Friday regarding financial institutions and technology.
Following the hearing, the GOP representative said it’s up to the Democrats to decide who their nominee will be. But Barr said Republican members share concerns with Democratic colleagues about the fitness of President Biden.
“Whether you’re a republican or democrat the American people deserve a president a commander in chief who has the mental acuity the physical stamina to do what we all acknowledge is a very demanding job,” said Barr.
Barr said if the Democrats moved to replace President Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump would still win.
“Overall and certainly in Kentucky,” said Barr.
Saying he has a very constructive and productive bi-partisan relationship with Governor Beshear, Barr said if Beshear became a vice-presidential candidate that wouldn’t change a landslide win by Trump in Kentucky. Governor Beshear has said repeatedly he’s not seeking a position on a federal Democratic ticket.
