A nonprofit offering free pop-up medical clinics will be in Hazard June 8 and 9 at East Perry Elementary School. Remote Area Medical – RAM – is holding the clinics in collaboration with the University of Kentucky’s Center for Excellence in Rural Health. RAM marketing manager Chris Cannon said services will include dental and vision care.
“That will include some dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions on our dental side. We also have the availability to complete eye exam, and eye health exam. And eyeglasses will be made on site there at the clinic.”
RAM will also offer womens’ health exams, behavioral health consultations, and testing for HIV and Hepatitis-C. Cannon said the parking lot will open a minute before midnight on Friday, June 7 and services will be provided on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 6 Saturday morning.
“Everything is completely free. No ID is required. No insurance required. Again, all we ask is for patience. Sometimes the lines can be a little long. But yeah, just come as you are and we'll be there to give free care.”
The clinics will also be open Sunday on an abbreviated basis.
